“A suitable and highly enjoyable adventure novel for readers of all ages, Prince Gage’s triumphant tale combines an accurate medieval historical atmosphere with fast-paced modern storytelling that has plenty of action in every chapter.”
Excellent. Fresh and clean, setting is so interesting, and the plot points are surprising and exciting.
Enjoyable read with thorough research of a fascinating time period. Plenty of fresh surprises in the story line to keep you wondering what will happen next and a cliff hanger ending that makes you want to read the second book in the series right away!
Tournament’s Price was a page turner with well developed characters and a plot line that had surprises in it. Given Hoffman has done a great job weaving words into pictures and creating characters that I want to follow into the next books. Keep writing, Given! I can’t wait.
I loved this book! The first part reads kind of like the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. A traveler’s log and coming of age story. Then all the strings start to pull together for a fast paced and climactic finish. I can’t wait to read more of Gage’s story!
The Tournaments Price is a book that I would highly recommend. Not only is it exciting and adventurous, but it also tackles common issues such as coming-of-age, figuring out what you believe, and standing on your convictions. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I can’t wait for the next one!
It was such a good book. I just can’t believe she would stop the story at such a bad place, then we have to wait for fall for the next one. It turned out better than I expected.
The Tournament’s Price is an adventurous, fast-paced book well worth the read. Since the medieval time period isn’t my favorite, I was skeptical if I would love it as much as The Eighth Ransom. I love it more! It is a must-read for all teenagers and up.
Given has written an amazing book. As the reader you rejoice with Gage, you cry with him, you sympathize with him, but you can see his follies and his weaknesses. You are confronted with how you personally doubted God, ran from the hard and painful, hurt your family by your actions, words, or silence: and you learn right along with Gage how to trust and repent.
Prince Gage has rejected God; and after losing his best friend, he forsakes all responsibility and runs from his family, life and position. At the end of the book he realizes that everyone is responsible for their own actions, not the actions or wrongdoings of others, and that to heal he must face his hurt and trust God. While this realization doesn’t fix the mess he’s made of his life, it’s a start. He realizes that running from your problems doesn’t fix them- it just buries them and makes you angry.
The Tournament’s Price title has multiple meanings- the price of winning the tournament meant being attacked, the price on Gage of running from his life and family, and ultimately the price Gage will pay for traveling as a commoner.
When describing the book to my siblings, the best way I could think of it was Robin Hood from the noble’s perspective with the action of our favorite medieval homeschool family produced movie.
I could go on for hours about how amazing these books are. Given put a lot of effort into writing them.
First of all, I am not really into the medieval period at all, except for lotr, however, I could not put these books down! They are very well written and I am extremely glad to have books made for teen guys that aren’t garbage. This is now my second fav book, next to The Eighth Ransom.
I absolutely loved this book. It has a great storyline, and the further I got into it, the more I wanted to finish it, I practically listened to it in a day. This was probably one of my favorite books that I have read, and I would definitely recommend it to others. I can’t wait to read the next one.
